As a registered friend or member of this site, your account is your own personalized page on this site. Your account helps us make the site more friendly and enjoyable for you, and helps you keep track of all your content and interactions with us, provides you with special benefits, and makes it easier for your to contact or interact with us.

Your Account Gives You Control

Creating An Account

Creating your account is free and easy -- just click the "New User" link that appears under the "Member Options" menu at the side of all our site pages. Once your account is set up, you can access your personalized page any time you like by clicking the "My Virginia Oaks" link in the "Member Options" menu.

The "My Virginia Oaks" page has many important links to help you manage your account, use this site, and keep your information up-to-date. The side navigation on your "My Accounts" page will show shortcut links to help you manage content that you have submitted through the site or are invited to contribute. To view, change, or add an individual entry, just follow the appropriate shortcut link. Any entries that have been approved for display on the site will be listed.

If you have not made any entries, or if your entries have not been approved, we'll let you know that too, and give you the opportunity to add one. To add an entry, just click "Add", fill out the form by providing the information the form asks for, then click the "Continue" button to save your input. To change information, locate the entry by scrolling down the list of entries, click the "Change" link that appears below the entry, make any changes you want to the information in the form, then click the "Continue" button to save your update. As you are adding or changing information, please note that any field marked with an * is required and must contain appropriate information before your entry can be processed.

The side navigation menu of your "My Virginia Oaks" page will also have a link to "Update My Account." To update your contact, password, or security information, click on your "Update My Account" link and make any changes you need to the information contained in the form, then click the "Continue" button to save your changes.

Instructions appear on most form pages to help you, and examples can be accessed from input forms to show you the type of information that needs to be entered in individual form fields.

A Better Site Experience

Registering with us lets you interact with us and also allows you to post classifieds and view 'residents-only' information that is not accessible to the general public. You will also receive valuable information, updates, tips, discounts, and other benefits as they become available. You will need to register before interacting through the site or adding content.

To become a registered friend or member of this site, click on the "New User" shortcut that appears under the "Member Options" menu at the side of any of our site pages. Before doing so, you should look at the site User Agreement.

We use your e-mail address as your user name, and ask you to provide a password to help you access your account. In case you forget that password, we ask you to choose a security question, give us the answer to that security question, and provide a hint that we can e-mail to you to help you remember what password you have chosen. If you forget your password, we will ask you to choose and answer the password question correctly to verify your identity. If the question and answer you choose match the question and answer in your account, we will e-mail the hint that you saved to your e-mail address. Because your e-mail address is used as your user name, it is especially important that you keep your e-mail address up-to-date. If you need to change your e-mail address, log in using the e-mail address that you used when you created the account, then change the e-mail address and save your update. Next time you log in, use your new e-mail address to access your account.

Logging In and Logging Out

If you are not logged in as you browse our site pages, a login link will appear in the "Member Options" menu at the side of any of our site pages. If you are logged in, this link will change to a "Logout" link. To protect your privacy and security, we strongly recommend that you log out or close your Internet browser whenever you leave your computer. It is not necessary for you to login to the site when you visit unless you want to access information that requires registration. Whenever you try to access your account, special information, or a protected page on this site, we will check to see if you are logged in. If you aren't already logged in, a login screen will appear. Just enter your e-mail address and the password that you selected when you registered and click the "Continue" button. To logout, click the "Logout" shortcut in the "Member Options" menu.

To remain logged in, just use the site as you normally would. Your login session will remain active as long as you do -- as long as you are entering information or moving from page to page. If you leave your computer or do not interact with the site for a period of time, we will automatically end your login session to protect your information and your account. Unfortunately, we cannot control the information on your screen if you do so, so it is possible that, if you return to your computer after you have been logged out, some information that we need to process your requests may be missing. If you this occurs when you are submitting a form, this can result in errors. If something unexpected occurs when you submit a form, use the back button on your browser until you have the information that you put into the form on your screen. Next, click the "Login" link, login, then use the back button again until you see the form that you tried to submit. Click the "Continue" button. If the error occurs again, please see the information in our "Troubleshooting" section.

Recovering a Lost Password

If you forget your password, click the "Lost Password" link at the top of the login screen.  Enter your e-mail address and choose the security question that you selected when you created your account from the drop down menu. Answer the question, then click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the form. If your e-mail address, security question, and security answer match the information in your file, we will e-mail you the password hint that you provided when you created your account.

Your Account

Your account is your own personalized page within this Web site. You can reach this page any time you like by clicking the "My Account" link in the "Member Options" menu on any page of this Web site.Your account is an easy way to keep track of all your interactions with us. By using the "My Account" link, you can view and update your registration information, contacts, and other content.

Your Content

As a site member, you may discover areas on our site where we invite your input and interaction. If this is the case, links will be provided inviting you to add or suggest a content entry, give us your opinion, or click if you want to receive a particular benefit or accept a special offer. You will need to be logged in to access input forms or special information. If you try to access a page that requires you to be logged in, a log in screen will appear. Just enter your e-mail address and password, and you will be able to continue. If at any time you forget your password, click the "Lost Password" link at the top of the login page to receive a hint that will help you remember.

Any content that you suggest will be reviewed by an editor or customer service manager before it is displayed publically on the site. If you do not see your content right away, please be patient and rest assured that we value your input very much and will review it as soon as humanly possible.

Claiming or Adding a Business Listing

If you are providing products or services in the Gainesville/Haymarket area and are interested in reaching Virginia Oaks residents, our Community Businesses listing is the perfect way to do so. If your business isn't already listed, we invite you to add it now. If you business is already listed and you did not create the listing, you will want to "claim" your listing so that you can make changes any time you like. This service is absolutely free and you can use it to promote your business, alert residents about specials and promotions. You can even upload your logo or other photo.

How to Claim a Listing


To claim a listing, please locate the listing on our site and contact us.  Please include the exact listing name as it appears on the site, together with your email address and your full name, exactly as it appears in your member registration. If you have not yet registered as a member, please register now.

Verified Member (VA Oaks Residents Only)

When you register on the site, you instantly become a member with greater access to various areas of the site. Some areas and content on the site, however, are only available to residents. To protect residents and our community, each registration is screened. This process can take a few days, but if you are a resident, you will automatically be given access to additional features on the site, including the Resident Directory. Once your residency is verified, you will notice that you are able to see more content on the site.

To test whether your verified membership is live, go to the "Community" section using the top navigation menu, then look on the area navigation menu at the right of your browser window. If you do not see a menu option for "Babysitters," you are not a verified member. If you live in Virginia Oaks, and it has been more than 10 days since your initial registration, and you do not see the menu option for "Babysitters,"  please contact us. It is important to us to make your site experience as pleasant and productive as possible.

Resident Directory

The Resident Directory is only available to verified residents. If you have just signed up as a member, you will not be able to access the directory until a site administrator has physically reviewed your registration information and verified that you do, in fact, live here. This step is for your protection, but it can take several days. Please be patient in the meantime.

Once you are verified as a resident, you can access the directory either by using the link on your 'My Account' page, or by going to the Community area and using the link that you find there.

To access your 'My Account' page, click the 'My Virginia Oaks' link under 'Member Options' in the navigation bar on the right side of any page, or click the 'M' icon at the bottom right corner of the home page.

To access the 'Community' area, use the link at the top left on any page.

Babysitter Listings

Babysitter listings are only available to verified residents. If you have just signed up as a member, you will not be able to view babysitter information until a site administrator has physically reviewed your registration information and verified that you do, in fact, live here. This step is for your protection, but it can take several days. Please be patient in the meantime.

You can add yourself as a babysitter, in the same way that you add any other content, by using the link located on your 'My Account/My Virginia Oaks' page. To access your 'My Account' page, click the 'My Virginia Oaks' link under 'Member Options' in the navigation bar on the right side of any page, or click the 'M' icon at the bottom right corner of the home page.

Once you are verified as a resident, you can see published listings by going to the Community area and using the link that you find there. To access the 'Community' area, use the link at the top left on any page. This link will not appear until you are verified as a resident.

Playgroup Listings

Playgroup information is only available to verified residents. If you have just signed up as a member, you will not be able to view this information until a site administrator has physically reviewed your registration information and verified that you do, in fact, live here.
